The Train Set – Interview

 Having attended one of the first Shiiine On Festival weekenders when Manchester’s The High played, their lead singer John Matthews enthused about the band that were up on stage called The Train Set. Having never heard of the band we both stood at the front of the crowd, probably in and around about 50 odd people who were watching, I was impressed with the bands fluidity plus the stunning songs on show. This then prompted the Q&A with their fab tambourine shaking lead singer Clive Jones. This first appeared on Louder Than War 6.2.17: The Train Set are one of the truly great lost bands from the late 1980s. The Wendys – From The Factory Four

Another lenghty interview, this time with the constantly criminally underrated Scottish groove wonders The Wendys originally published on Louder Than War 4.11.16 Jimmy Miller. Simple Minds. Seb Coe. Three people that unite but not exclusively define iconic early 90’s band The Wendys. The Wendys signed to Tony Wilson’s Factory Records in amongst the Madchester wave of bands such as Flowered Up, The Charlatans and The High. The Wendys were, just like Flowered Up, The Charlatans, and The High, not just your major label hit making, manufactured indie band. They were real and their own musical history starting years before their signing to Factory, which has a similar legacy to Factory label mates The Happy Mondays and other Manchester starlets The Stone Roses.
